WE’RE BACK!!!!

We made it back around 11:30am this morning to HU from ASB NOLA. It was an amazing mission and I cannot wait to share photos and video footage with you all. Please stay tuned :).

Day 1

Day 1 was such a success!! We arrived 30 min early to our housing location. Mack greeted the participants with an informative speech on their purpose this week. We divided the group up into 4 different rooms for sleeping. We then freshened up and relaxed.

At 3, we went on a walking tour of the Lower 9th Ward with Mack. The 3 hour tour covered a lot of land which allowed us to see destroyed homes, the devastation and displacement that is still taking place, the bayou, Brad Pitt’s homes he sponsored, and the levees

We were provided lunch from Dillard University and ate that immediately following the tour. After we had our first official reflection, which went extremely well.

With the exception of a few minor hiccups, the day went well :). I am excited for tomorrow!

We are on the road!!!!

Thankfully “there’s an app for that” is true for Tumblr. I will try to keep you all as up to date as possible on what NOLA is doing this week!

At 5:30am the ASB committee arrived at Cramton to set up for departure day. After eating breakfast, a few speeches, distributing t-shirts, loading the buses, and a few “HU, you know!”s we departed for our bus ride to NOLA.

We are about 55 miles outside of NOLA. The bus ride has been great so far. We watched movies, made frequent stops, and are all getting to know each other a little better.
